Release of CSIS 2020 Public Report

first_imgRelease of CSIS 2020 Public Report From: Canadian Security Intelligence ServiceThe Director of the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS), David Vigneault, issued the following statement regarding the CSIS 2020 Public Report released today“I am pleased to release the Canadian Security Intelligence Service Public Report for 2020, which was submitted to the Minister of Public Safety on March 31, 2021. The report provides an overview of the threats to Canada’s security and national interests, and helps Canadians understand the role and activities of CSIS.This Report, like the year 2020 itself, stands out from its predecessors. The extraordinary circumstances the COVID-19 pandemic has brought upon the world reinforce the importance for Canadians to have trust in their national institutions including their security intelligence service and to know about the important work we do to protect Canadians and Canadian interests. The trust and confidence of Canadians in CSIS is critical to our legitimacy, operational effectiveness, and institutional credibility. While certain information must remain protected, providing an enhanced public view of our priorities, our people, and our areas of responsibility, is essential to maintaining that trust with the public. The 2020 report highlights the innovative and critical work CSIS has conducted during the COVID-19 pandemic to keep Canadians safe. It also reiterates that while violent extremism continue to capture a significant portion of CSIS’ attention and efforts, threats such as foreign interference and espionage are increasing and directly threaten Canada’s economic prosperity and national interests.CSIS continues to evolve but our mission remains the same: to keep Canadians safe. CSIS is committed to fulfilling our mission, and we will continue to do so in a manner that reflects Canada’s values and the trust that Canadians have placed in us.The people of CSIS take their responsibility to protect Canada to heart and carry out their duties diligently, knowing that they are making Canada a safer place. I am very proud of all their work and so too should Canadians.I encourage all Canadians to read our newly released report to gain a comprehensive picture of how CSIS is working to keep Canada safe during these unprecedented times.” /Public Release. Tito Ortiz desperate for Mike Tyson fight but warns Iron Mike, 53, he may not survive in ring despite looking ‘vicious’

first_imgFORMER UFC light-heavyweight champ Tito Ortiz has revealed that he has been contacted about fighting Mike Tyson where he has declared he is desperate to face him.The MMA fighter is believed to be in competition with Evander Holyfield to face the Baddest Man on the Planet with reports stating the duo are in talks over a trilogy bout.Tito Ortiz has claimed he is desperate to face boxing legend Mike TysonTyson, 53, has left fans in awe at his stunning body transformation, and while Ortiz has commended his American compatriot on his physique, he has warned the ex-world champion about fighting him.Ortiz – who welcomed twins with former flame Jenna Jameson in 2009 – told SunSport: “I got a random phone call from somebody who works on Mike Tyson’s Podcast and they asked me if I would be interested in fighting Mike Tyson.“I had seen that he was in shape. Him working with one of my old trainers, he looked really, really good. I was like, ‘Yeah, of course I’d be interested in this.’“Then I got to call them and a couple of days went by and nobody talked to me. Then I get another call from one of my friends in Las Vegas who is friends with his management, and he said, ‘Can I put you two guys together to talk?’“He said, ‘What about getting this fight on with Mike Tyson?’ I said, ‘I’d love to. I’m very interested. I just fought last year. Let’s get this ball rolling, let’s do it. I’m in.’“And he said I’ll get back to you. And this was a week ago. But no one has called me or said anything. I’m waiting to see what happens.”MIKE DROPOrtiz, 45, then added: “Don’t get me wrong, Mike’s very vicious, very tough but he hasn’t fought in a very long time. “Those pads don’t hit back. It looks good hitting the pads until someone hits you back. For me being hungry and the ferocity it becomes a fight, it’s not a ‘show’ where you’re putting in a show display.“If you’ve been using pads for over 30 years you can make it look good. But those pads don’t punch you back, it’s a different story.”Ortiz last fought in December when he beat former WWE star Alberto Del Rio inside the first round after winning via a rear-naked choke. But he has a boxing fight against Iron Mike on his mind, as he stated: “I hope anyone from Tyson’s camp can get hold of me. I’m in. There’s no second guessing.Ortiz and former adult film star Jenna Jameson split up in 2013Credit: Getty Images“It’s not, “Oh, no, it’s Mike Tyson so I’m not going to fight him.” Give me an opportunity. That’s the competitive side to me.“I will compete against anybody. You win, you lose. You pick yourself back up again and you do it again. That’s life. And if you don’t take life that way, you will never learn from your mistakes.“I’m willing to go out there and ready to get my hand raised. Hopefully Mike Tyson will contact me. I am pursuing this and ready to face Tyson.”Watch Donald Trump argue Mike Tyson should receive no jail time after the heavyweight is convicted of raping 18 year old Diseree Washington Rebekah Vardy scores an impressive penalty in six-inch heels 10 INCREDIBLE Space Launch Failures! Ravens CB Tray Walker dies of dirt bike crash injuries

first_imgSANTA CLARA, CA — Tray Walker #25 of the Baltimore Ravens looks on during pre-game warm ups prior to playing the San Francisco 49ers in an NFL game at Levi’s Stadium on October 18, 2015 in Santa Clara, California. (Photo by Thearon W. Henderson/Getty Images)BALTIMORE (AP) _ Baltimore Ravens cornerback Tray Walker, who played one season in the NFL, died Friday of injuries from a dirt bike crash in Miami. His godmother confirmed the 23-year-old Walker’s death, according to the Ravens.Walker was riding a Honda dirt bike with no lights and wearing dark clothing when he collided with a Ford Escape on Thursday night, Miami-Dade Police said. He had been in Jackson Memorial Hospital in critical condition.A fourth-round 2015 draft pick, Walker played in eight games last season, mostly on special teams.Ravens coach John Harbaugh wrote a heart-felt letter to his players Friday before Walker died. Later, in a statement, Harbaugh said, “Tray was a young man with a good and kind heart. He was humble and loved everything about being part of the Ravens’ team. He loved his teammates _ the practice and the preparation _ and that showed every day. … I’ll never forget that smile.”General manager Ozzie Newsome, who drafted Walker, said, “Tray was one of the most humble persons we brought in for a pre-draft visit. That was striking. After we drafted him, he and his family were so excited to receive the call that he was about to become a Raven. It was one of the calls I will always remember. There was such joy for Tray and his family.”Walker made only one tackle with Baltimore, but he made a lasting impression on those around him.“Tray was a young man who was full of energy and promise,” quarterback Joe Flacco said. “This is very hard to wrap my head around, and I am devastated.”Walker played high school football at Miami Northwestern High School before enjoying a four-year career with Texas Southern. He was second-team All-Southwestern Athletic Conference in 2014.“Tray had a hard shell,” Ravens cornerback Jimmy Smith said, “but once you broke through that, you found a person who was learning how to become a man and was so eager to be a great person and professional. I am heartbroken for his family.”Walker’s death was felt throughout the organization, all the way to the top.“We have two sons not too much older than Tray, and we can’t imagine how much his family is suffering,” team owner Steve Bisciotti said. “This is so sad. The right words are hard to find at a time like this. As much as we can comfort Tray’s mom and the rest of his family, we will.”___AP NFL website: www.pro32.ap.org and www.twitter.com/AP_NFLlast_img read more
