Small business confidence soars in Alberta

Small business confidence in Alberta is sky high according to a new report.The Canadian Federation of Independent Business says small business confidence jumped 2.1 points in September to 73.8, the highest level for the index in a year and a half.Senior policy analyst Amber Ruddy told 660News Alberta is among the top performers in the country.“In terms of other provinces, Newfoundland and Labrador is quite high on the index and Alberta is keeping pace so this is very positive new compared to the national average which is almost eight points lower,” she explained. “It shows businesses are really looking to ramp things up in the future and this is very positive news as we go into the next cycle and really see business owners grow their business and do what they do best.”Ruddy said labour shortages remain the biggest challenge for small business in Alberta.Fifty-three per cent of entrepreneurs surveyed in Alberta said the shortage of skilled labour was limiting their sales or production growth.
